These two tools look similar — a camera pointed out of a vehicle — but they are built for different jobs. A dash cam runs unattended and exists to capture evidence. Frequently asked questions
Can I use VelocityCam as a dash cam anyway?
Only in the limited sense that it records forward video while you run it. It will not start on its own, will not loop, will not protect a clip after an impact, and stops when you stop it.
Can I run both?
Yes. A permanently installed dash cam handles the unattended job while VelocityCam records the sessions you want telemetry for.
Is VelocityCam footage acceptable as evidence?
We make no claim that it is. Consumer GPS and phone sensors are not certified measurements, and nothing in VelocityCam is designed for evidentiary use.
