Turn Your Android Phone into a Telemetry Camera
A telemetry camera records video and sensor data at the same time so the numbers on screen match what actually happened. VelocityCam does that on a phone you already own: rear-camera video (with a front-camera switch before recording on supported phones), GPS-derived speed, and — for mounted recording — stabilized G-force and mount-aware pitch and roll, all captured together and kept synchronized during playback and export. Recording without a fixed mount is handled by the dedicated Handheld HUD, which trades vehicle-motion gauges for GPS-based performance metrics.

Local-only by design
The Android app has no account, no cloud upload, no advertising or analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no background-location permission. Recordings, telemetry, and Route Trace stay on the device. Exports and sharing happen only when you request them.

Frequently asked questions
What is an Android telemetry camera?
It's a phone-based camera that records video and sensor data at the same time. VelocityCam combines rear-camera video with GPS speed, G-force, and orientation so the on-screen readouts stay aligned with the footage during recording, playback, and export.
Does VelocityCam require external sensors?
No. It uses the phone's built-in camera, GPS, and motion sensors. Current public motion telemetry uses the phone's built-in sensors — there is no requirement for a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter, external GPS puck, or action camera.
Does VelocityCam upload recordings?
No. Video and telemetry stay in app-private storage. Exports are only created when you ask for them, and sharing only happens after you choose a destination in the Android share sheet.
Can the telemetry appear in the exported video?
Yes. When you export, the selected HUD is composited into the new MP4 file so the numbers travel with the clip. The original recording is left untouched.
Does it work in portrait and landscape?
Both. VelocityCam supports full-sensor orientation, including reverse portrait for upside-down windshield mounts. The screen and orientation are locked while recording.
Which Android phones are supported?
Any device running Android 10 (API 29) or newer that has a compatible rear camera, GPS, and the motion sensors needed for pitch, roll, and G-force. Front-camera switching and a Wide lens option are available where the phone supports them. Available recording resolution depends on the phone; VelocityCam automatically selects a stable supported quality.
