VelocityCam records boat runs the way you experienced them: video plus GPS-derived speed, pitch and roll from the mounted phone, and a stabilized G-force reading. Pro users can add offline Route Trace so the path over water plays back with the video. VelocityCam is a recording and telemetry application, not a marine navigation or safety device.
Made for on-water recording
Marine phone mounting means the camera position is stable and the horizon is reasonably predictable. VelocityCam uses that to keep the HUD steady, and its Marine Blue theme and Boat Adventure icon make on-water footage feel like a coherent set.

Runs, cruises, and days on the water
Capture launch-to-return sessions, wake surfing and skiing runs, poker runs, cruises, and lake trips. Passengers who aren't driving the boat can also record with the Handheld HUD when there's no spare mount, using GPS-based speed and distance instead of the mounted pitch/roll gauges. Session statistics summarize peak speed, distance, moving time, and G-force peaks. Route Trace playback works entirely offline — useful when you're out of cell coverage.

Mount safely
Use a marine-rated phone mount. Keep the phone protected from spray, submersion, and prolonged sun exposure. VelocityCam does not make the phone waterproof.

Wait for GPS, then record
GPS lock is required before recording starts. Automatic calibration references the phone's mounted orientation as level.

Review with Route Trace
With Pro, playback shows the run's path with a moving arrow, start marker, and checkered finish marker. Export includes the HUD (and Route Trace when enabled).

Frequently asked questions
Can VelocityCam record boat speed?
Yes. Speed is derived from GPS, which works over water as long as the phone can see the sky. There is no dependence on cellular coverage.
Does Route Trace require mobile data?
No. Route Trace draws from your recorded GPS points; there are no online map tiles and no map API keys.
Can I export a GPX file from a boat trip?
Yes, with VelocityCam Pro. GPX and KML route exports work from any saved session that includes GPS data.
Does VelocityCam work without cell service?
Yes. Recording, playback, and export all work offline. Only opening the launch website or sharing to a social app needs an internet connection.
Is VelocityCam a marine navigation app?
No. VelocityCam is a recording and telemetry app. It does not provide navigation charts, depth information, or any other marine safety functionality. Do not rely on it as a navigation or safety device.
Can the HUD be included in social video?
Yes. Exports render the selected HUD into the new file, and vertical formats are available for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. Original recordings are never modified.
