Telemetry Video for Trails, ATV and UTV Rides

Trail rides, ATV and UTV outings, and snowmobile runs are where pitch and roll matter most. VelocityCam records the video alongside those readings so climbs, descents, side-slopes, and impacts show up on the HUD instead of only in your memory. The app does not measure rollover risk and does not guarantee vehicle safety.

Motion data for uneven terrain

Automatic record-start calibration references the phone's mounted orientation as level, so pitch and roll reflect what the vehicle is doing rather than how the phone is clipped in. G-force filtering keeps the ball readable through vibration and washboard.

  • Pitch and roll gauges (Adventure HUD, Pro)
  • Stabilized G-force through vibration and rough terrain
  • GPS-derived speed
  • Adventure vehicle icons: Off-Road, ATV/UTV, Snowmobile, Generic (Pro)
  • Route Trace overlay for playback and exports (Pro)
  • GPX and KML route export (Pro)

Trails, dunes, and winter runs

Riders record trail loops for reference, review climbs and descents afterwards, and share segments to social. Snowmobile and side-by-side operators use the same recording pipeline; the differentiator is which Adventure icon is displayed on the HUD.

Ride-day setup

  1. 1

    Mount for vibration

Use a mount rated for vibration and secure the phone so it can't rattle loose. A stable mount also means better calibration.

  2. 2

    Wait for GPS and record

GPS lock is required before recording. Automatic calibration references the phone's orientation at record start as level.

  3. 3

    Review the ride

Session Details shows peak speed, duration, and (with Pro) advanced statistics. Route Trace playback lets you scrub through the ride with position visible.

Frequently asked questions

Can VelocityCam show vehicle pitch and roll?

Yes. The Adventure HUD (Pro) displays pitch and roll gauges based on the phone's motion sensors, referenced to the mount's orientation at record start.

Can it record ATV or UTV rides?

Yes. Any securely mounted Android phone can capture the video, GPS speed, and motion data. Adventure icons include ATV/UTV specifically.

Does it work without cellular coverage?

Yes. Recording, playback, Route Trace, and export are all offline. GPS is a satellite signal.

Can I export the trail route?

Yes, with Pro. GPX and KML route exports work from any session that includes GPS data.

Does it support snowmobiles?

Yes. Use the Snowmobile Adventure icon and keep the phone within its operating temperature range as specified by the phone manufacturer.

Does the application require an external action camera?

No. VelocityCam uses the phone's rear camera. External action cameras are not supported.
