Record Video with GPS Speed and G-Force
VelocityCam records what your camera sees and what your sensors measure as a single, aligned session. Speed comes from GPS. G-force comes from the phone's motion sensors, filtered to stay readable on a mounted device. Both stay locked to the video timeline during playback and stay in place when the clip is exported.

Get a GPS lock
Mount the phone with a clear view of the sky. VelocityCam blocks recording until GPS is locked so speed is real from the first frame.

Tap Record. Automatic record-start calibration zeros pitch, roll, and G-force to the mount so gauges reflect the vehicle, not the phone.

Export the HUD into the file
Choose a destination (Original, Vertical 9:16, Square 1:1, or Landscape 16:9). VelocityCam renders a new file with the selected HUD composited in.

Frequently asked questions
How does GPS speed video work?
The phone's GPS returns position and derived speed samples several times a second. VelocityCam smooths these to keep the HUD readable and aligns each sample to the video timeline so playback and exports both show the correct value at the correct moment.
Is GPS speed the same as the dashboard speedometer?
They can differ. A vehicle speedometer estimates speed from wheel rotation and is often calibrated to read slightly high. GPS speed is derived from satellite position changes. Neither is a certified measurement instrument for legal purposes.
Can G-force be exported into the video?
Yes. When you export, the current HUD — including the G-force ball — is composited into the new MP4 file.
Does the app need an internet connection?
No. Recording, playback, and export work offline. GPS is a satellite signal, not a cellular one.
Does it require a Bluetooth sensor?
No. Current public motion telemetry uses the phone's built-in sensors, and speed comes from the phone's GPS receiver.
Can the original recording be preserved?
Yes. Exports produce a new file. The original recording is left untouched in app-private storage.
