GPX vs KML vs CSV for Telemetry Export

Updated · Published by VelocityCam (JuMaSt Appworks LLC)

VelocityCam Pro can export a session's data in three formats. They are not interchangeable: one describes a route as track points, one describes a route for styled viewing, and one gives you the underlying samples in rows and columns.

GPX — route data

GPX is a widely supported XML format for tracks and waypoints. Choose it when you want the path of the session in a portable form that mapping and outdoor software commonly understands.

KML — styled route viewing

VelocityCam exports styled KML, which carries presentation information alongside the geometry. Choose it when the goal is looking at the route rather than processing it.

CSV — raw telemetry

CSV gives you the telemetry samples themselves — the data behind the HUD — in a plain tabular file. Choose it when you want to chart, compare, or process the session yourself in a spreadsheet or your own tooling.

Data portability

All three exports are files you create and keep. VelocityCam does not upload them anywhere; they exist on your device until you move or share them. We do not claim verified compatibility with any specific third-party application, because that would require testing we have not done — check the format your target tool expects.

Pro requirement

CSV, GPX, and KML export are part of the one-time VelocityCam Pro lifetime unlock. Video export with the HUD baked in is free.
